But Never Forgotten

This is my missionary
and best friend :)
She has been since the first day of Sophomore year- and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way!
As you can see, she on a mission right now- but something unexpected happened.
Ash returned home from her mission on the 8th of August because of a call from her mission president telling her that her dad had a stroke and is being sustained by life support.
She came home to see her dad in his hospital bed with machines keeping him alive.
Ashley has overcome so many difficult trials in her life and I can't even believe the pain she was feeling.
When my mom called me that Friday afternoon- I was not expecting to end the phone call in frantic tears. I then talked with Ashley's mom and began figuring out how soon I would get to hug my ash.
Because she was still a missionary (and an obedient one at that) I didn't want to text her too much- but just wanted to see her. I knew that she needed me, and I needed her at this time.
On Saturday morning, I picked Ashley up at 6 AM so that we could go to the temple.
We spent the time there, in that amazing and peaceful place, thinking of our Heavenly Father and Peter. We talked and we cried. I never thought that I would be holding my best friends hand, this soon, and I would have never expected it to be under these circumstances.
My best friend has never been so beautiful. She is just filled with the light of Christ. She is close to her Savior and knows that she is being cared for from the other side.
After the temple, we met Karli at Kneaders and of course did some more crying and lots of hugging. I am so grateful for the beautiful relationships that I have with these two girls. We are all at completely different stages in life, but whenever we are together- it is like we are right back where we left off.
I was so sad that I couldn't be there for the funeral, but I know that Peter is safe and healthy now.
I know that we need friends for a reason. I know that this gospel is the one thing that can keep us sane. Without it, I don't know where either of us would be right now.
I love this girl. I love all that she stands for. I am so grateful for her example- never giving up, always facing what is in front of her with COURAGE. I know that we have each other for a reason.
and...I know that everything happens for a reason.
God has a plan for each of us.
We have to have faith in Him and all that He gives us in this life.
 I love my Asher.
Things like this hurt- but I know that they also make us stronger.
She is back out there now doing just what the Lord asked of her.
I want to be a faithful servant just like her.
